View an AI-generated visit summary

Written by Bianca Nicolae

Overview

Before starting a visit, you can now view an AI-generated summary of the service user's last five visit notes. The summary groups key information by care category - such as Medication, Personal Care, Nutrition, Mobility, and Wellbeing - so you can quickly understand how recent care has been going without having to read through individual notes. Categories can differ from one visit summary to another, according to how AI interprets the data.

Important: You need an internet connection to generate a summary. If you are in offline mode or cannot reach the service, the summary will not be available. You can still view the visit notes directly.

Note: This feature requires ACP Server 8.2.10 to be released to all customers.

View the visit summary

To view the AI summary for a visit:

1. Open ACP Mobile and go to your visit list.

2. Tap the visit you want to view.

3. On the visit details screen, tap the **AI Summary** section to expand it.

4. Wait a moment while the summary loads - a loading indicator is shown while it is being prepared.

5. The summary appears as a short list of points grouped by care category, with a note showing how many visits it is based on.

Note: The AI Summary section only appears when the service user has at least one previous completed visit note. If there are no prior notes, the section is not shown.

If the summary is not available

Occasionally the summary may not be generated. This can happen if you are offline, your connection is slow, or the AI service is temporarily unavailable. When this happens:

β€’ The app displays a message letting you know the summary could not be generated.

β€’ A link is shown to view the visit notes directly, so you can still access the information you need.

β€’ You can try tapping the AI Summary section again to retry.

πŸ’‘ Tip: If the summary consistently fails to load, check that you have a stable internet connection and try again.

What the summary covers

The summary is generated from the last five completed visit notes for the service user. It groups information into care categories to make it easy to scan. Examples of what you might see include:

β€’ Medication - Whether medication was administered or any concerns were noted.

β€’ Personal care - How the service user managed with personal care tasks.

β€’ Nutrition - Eating and drinking observations from recent visits.

β€’ Mobility - Any notes about movement, falls, or mobility aids.

β€’ Wellbeing - Mood, communication, and general wellbeing observations.

The categories shown depend on what has been recorded in the visit notes. If a category has no relevant notes it will not appear in the summary.

Common questions

How up to date is the summary?

The summary is based on the last five completed visit notes that have been recorded and synced to the server. If notes were added very recently they may not yet be included. Make sure you sync regularly to keep the information on your device current.

Does the summary store or share my data?

The summary is generated using visit note content from your ACP account. It is produced securely and is only visible to you within the app. Speak to your administrator if you have questions about data handling.

Known limitations

Audit record may be missing for unscheduled visits

When a carer views the AI summary for an unscheduled visit before starting that visit, the summary request may not appear in the audit log on the web. This is because unscheduled visits do not have a visit ID until the carer starts or ends the visit and it is synced to the server.

Only if the summary is requested before that sync has taken place, the audit record cannot be linked to the visit.

This only affects the audit trail. The summary itself works as expected and the care being delivered is not impacted.

The affected scenario is:

1. Carer creates an unscheduled visit.

2. Carer requests the AI summary before starting the visit.

3. Carer starts the visit. The audit record for the summary request cannot be matched to the visit as it had no ID at the time.

If the carer starts the visit first and then views the summary, the audit record is created correctly.

Note: This limitation applies to unscheduled visits only. Scheduled visits already have an ID before the visit starts, so the audit record is always created correctly for those.
